There are times where you’ll be asked to do a job and cost for it. Sometimes it’s business, and other times it’s personal. Don’t put a price to everything. Sometimes you’re paid for a job, and then asked to cost “Extra” because you did more – I’m not saying don’t charge, but know when to say “there’s no cost for that extra”.
Think about it this way – If you walk into an Ice Cream store, get your ice cream and ask for extra toppings… chances are that you expect to pay for the extra. If the server gives you the extra topping free, your excitement goes through the roof, and you will tell that story over and over again. For the Ice Cream place, that’s great promotion.
Know when to let the funds for the “Extra” work go! Know when to say, “It’s okay, I know I did extra, but I’m happy to have done it.”
