When you’re constantly surrounded by a group of people for a period of time, it’s easy to assume that they can read your mind, or that you can read theirs. You may think that they understand your vision, your goals, your purpose, or even something as ‘simple’ as what you like and don’t like. It’s simple to you because “They Should know this by now”. But what if they don’t know it? What if they don’t know that you don’t like being hugged, that you don’t like anyone drinking from your glass, that you need money right now and cannot afford to do work for delayed gratification. What if you’ve never told them these things?
Mind reading is a huge risk that can lead to misunderstandings and confusion. In every situation, You need to clarify expectations. Keep your goals, needs, and wants very simple and clear so that everyone is on the same page. It will save you relationships – business, and personal. Everyone is walking around with some level of assumption about the next person, and that’s almost impossible to end, but this year, I urge you to close the assumption tab and open a FACTS ONLY tab. It will save you a year filled with over-thinking.
